OP Y.

To The Inspector of Schools.

Sir,

*346

Wantsai District School,

3rd August, 1907.

I have the honour to again apply that my salary be increased on the 1st January, 1908, to the same amount as that of the Headmasters of the Yaumati and Saiyingpun Schools, viz.:- £360 per annum rising to £450 by triennial increments of £30, on the following grounds; and I beg to request that you will be good enough to lay my application before His Excellency the Governor for his consideration.

1. It was an understood thing that when the number of scholars in any of the three principal District Schools reached 200, the salary of the Headmaster be increased to £360 rising to £450; and when the number in the Yaumati School reached that figure, at the beginning of 1906, the salary of its Headmaster was accordingly increased to that amount.

2. When the number on roll in the Saiyingpun School and both in this School exceeded 200 at the beginning of this year, the Headmaster of the Saiyingpun School and I applied for a like increase, and I understand that his application has been granted, the increase to take effect from the 1st January, 1908, but mine was not.

3. The average attendance in this School for the last term was 225, and the fees collected during the same period amounted to $2,240.

4. The work and responsibility of the Headmasters of the three District Schools are identically the same, and the results shown by my School from time to time have been on a par with those of the other two Schools (vide the Inspector of Schools' annual reports).
