way to pay for a part of the cost of rebuilding and would undertake not to call on the Lessee thereafter to make good
any further damages by future landslips, I, on my part, think I
could obtain the balance of the money necessary to rebuild this
wall. And seeing the large sums the Lessee has already spent on
this wall and that it was duly passed by the Surveyor to H. H. the King, I would most respectfully suggest that the Government should pay 2/3rds of the cost of rebuilding and that the Lessee
should only have to find one-third.
