I have the honour to transmit for
Your Lordship's consideration the enclosed copy of a letter
from Messrs. Jardine, Matheson and Company, Merchants in
this Colony, asking that steps may be taken to obtain the
inclusion of Hongkong in the British Preferential Tariff
under the Canadian Tariff Act 1907.

The matter is one of importance
to the Commercial interests of this Colony, and I shall be
glad if Your Lordship can press the claims of this Colony
on the Canadian Government.
