houses in Shanghai it has been raised to £450. He has in addi-
tion free medical attendance for himself and family. There is
an outfit allowance varying from 1/9th. to 1/3rd. of the
annual salary. The present Judge received 1/6th. on transfer
without promotion'.
Further he has the following travelling
expenses:-
On joining, all expenses for himself, and 1/3rd. of
his family up to 5 in number.
On leave, after 5 years service, (but in the case of
the present Judge, after 3 years) half passage
each way for himself and 1/3rd. of the passage
of his family.
Pay on leave, during 9 months (when entitled to
leave) 5/8th. of full pay during the whole time,
afterwards on half-pay.
