that detention in Hospital if found to be due to a man's
own fault or culpable neglect of precautions which have
been urged upon him should involve forfeiture of the
allowance.

I take this opportunity of transmitting the enclosed copy of correspondence with the
Crown Agents relative to an application made by the Consulting Engineers for house allowances to Mr. Eves and
two members of his Staff, who like Mr. Eves do not occupy
free quarters. Mr. Eves's salary is £1,200 per annum with
£200 consolidated allowance. Mr. Baker's £500 per annum
and £150 consolidated allowance, and the Chief Store-
-keeper's £350 per annum and $360 per annum consolidated
allowance.
