Overwhelming evidence alleged American citizen Adietts murdered American woman here 4th August, arrested 13th August, warrant of American Consul at Chefoo, detained; only available gaol (Eritis): escaped, recaptured, placed American ship of war Galveston; on departure transferred to gaol at request of American Consul. Demanded extradition, offered to send documents evidence, British Consul at Chefoo replies competency of American Consular Court under consideration of American Supreme Court Shanghai: murder peculiarly brutal. Suggest immediate communication with United States Government: Attorney General draws attention to case of Jackson American Treatise Moore Extradition 1881 volume 1 page 140.
