REC 19 AUG 07
Government House,
Hongkong, 16th July, 1907.
My Lord,
Goo 28451d
Referring to Sir Matthew Nathan's Despatch No. 128 of the 25th of May, 1906, I have the honour to transmit six copies of the Reports on the Health and Sanitary Condition of Hongkong for the year 1906.
2. The Sanitary Condition of Victoria and Kowloon has been improved by the resumption and demolition of an insanitary area in the neighbourhood of Gough Street, and by the operation of Ordinance 1 of 1903 under which the provision of open spaces in the rear of existing houses is required. One hundred and twenty-five houses were provided with such open spaces during the year. In the case of new or re-erected houses scavenging lanes in the rear are required as well as open spaces in the rear and some progress has been made in the direction of these improvements also.
3. The Census taken in November last
