I have the honour to invite Your Lordship's attention to the evidence which Senior Inspector John Reidie gave before the Commission whose report was forwarded in my Confidential Despatch of the 29th May last, with regard to his Banking Account see pages 2945 to 2973.

The Commissioners recommended that Government should further investigate this matter in view of the unsatisfactory nature of Inspector Reidie's explanations, and accordingly on the 30th of May I caused the letter, copy enclosed, to be addressed to him and I now forward copy of his reply.

With regard to query (a) in the Colonial Secretary's letter, Inspector Reidie implied in his evidence before the Commission that the large payments to his credit aggregating $2,130 (see copy account attached)
