(b) it appears from Mr. Brett's account that between the 1st of March, 1902, and the 2nd July, 1903, no less than $1,818.06 were paid into Mrs. Brett's Savings Bank Account and subsequently transferred to Mr. Brett's current account. No explanation whatever was offered by Inspector Brett to the Commission of these large credits to Mrs. Brett's account and the only explanation given in his letter of the 10th ultimo is that he won $850 at the Races in 1902 and 1903, and that at times his wife has had money sent to her.
6. These explanations are so unsatisfactory that I brought the matter before the Executive Council who advised that, in the absence of specific charges which could be formulated against Inspector Brett, the facts should be reported to Your Lordship with the recommendation that the Crown should dispense with the services of Inspector Brett who is manifestly a dishonest man.
7. I have accordingly to make such recommendation.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble servant,
A. Maz
Officer Administering the Government.
