I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Mr May's despatch No 172 of June 27th and to inform you that H.M. the King will not be advised to exercise his power of disallowance with respect to Ord No 9 of 1907 of the Legislature of Hong Kong, entitled "An Ordinance for giving to a Foreign Company called the Nederlandsch-Indische Handelsbank certain facilities for carrying on its business in the Colony."
2. I observe that this Ordinance has been copied, almost verbatim, from Straits Settlements Ordinance No XV of 1904 and it appears that too close an adherence to the model has led to an error in drafting. In section 9(1) reference is made, as in Straits Settlements Ordinance section 8(1), to section 3; but section 3 of the Straits Settlements Ordinance corresponds to section 4 of the present Ordinance, and it is doubtless to the latter section that it is intended to refer.
