1. In continuation of my Confidential Despatch of the 29th ultimo, I have the honour to transmit copy of questions asked in the Legislative Council by the Senior Unofficial Member concerning the Report of the Commission appointed to enquire into the administration of the Sanitary Department, and of the replies made thereto, with copy of the précis referred to, at a Meeting of the Legislative Council held yesterday.

I also enclose copy of a fairly accurate newspaper report of remarks made by me and by Mr. E. A. Hewett, Chairman of the Commission.

I do not see any necessity for telegraphing. Sir M. Nathan pressed the matter on before he left and Sir I. Lugard. If he is wise will guide him mainly by my despatches myself.

May I do not think that the first reading of an Ordinance can seriously complicate the situation in any case.
