constant breakdowns to which the present cable, which is

quite worn out, is liable.

I propose therefore, with Your

Lordship's concurrence, to order the cable indicated in the

last paragraph of Sir Matthew Nathan's Despatch as soon as

possible so that it may be ready for laying during the

fine season to be expected towards the end of summer.
