Schedule of Duties of Plague Staff.

Assistant Medical Officers :- To investigate all uncertified deaths; to visit all premises in which cases of Plague have occurred and investigate the history of the cases; to visit premises in which Plague infected rats have been found and report on the buildings; to superintend the work of the Plague Inspectors; to authorize the employment of Contractor's Coolies as required; to report to the MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH. all matters of importance coming under their notice.

Plague Inspectors :- To examine buildings for rat-holes and rat-runs; to serve notices in respect of the same and to prosecute in default of compliance with such notices; to disinfect and cleanse blocks of buildings in which Plague rats have been found and premises in which Plague cases have occurred; to keep a careful daily record of the number of men employed under them distinguishing men on the staff from Contractor's coolies, and a record of all stores issued to and by them, and the addresses of the houses where such stores are expended.

Clerk at the Disinfecting Station :----- To attend to the telephones and keep the store's books and other Disinfecting Station records.

Foremen Interpreters :—— To act as Interpreters to the Plague Inspectors and assist in the work of disinfection and cleansing.

Chinese Foremen, Artisans, and Coolies:-- disinfection and cleansing, including the removal of ceilings, partitions and other To be employed in the work of fixtures, when so directed by the Inspector in charge; to be employed in the up-keep of the sanitary appliances.
