It will be observed that the 4 first mentioned officers are on dollar salaries, no provision having been made in the Sterling Scheme of Salaries for the two senior officers and the terms offered in the case of the two other officers being evidently considered not sufficiently liberal to justify their acceptance. Though the salaries of the latter are lower than the sterling salaries drawn by the remaining 4 officers, whilst on active service, the amounts drawn on full pay leave are greater by £10 per month.

I observe that, in their report, the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance Commission recommend that the salary of the officer proposed to be put in charge of the Buildings Ordinance work and whom they style Executive Engineer, be fixed at £630. This is in effect the work done by Mr. Perkins, whose salary is now £520, as he has just completed 3 years' service.
