For some years past a sum of
$20,000 has been provided in each year's estimates for this
nullah training.
When I suggested in my Despatch No. 128 of the 25th May, 1906, that the methods that had
proved efficacious here might advantageously be followed
in Freetown, Sierra Leone, I was not aware that the train-
ing of Sander's Brook in the lower part of its course had
already been systematically undertaken in that city. This
work will no doubt be followed by the training of the
mountain streams that flow into the town from the high
