permanent appointment from the 1st January next, and that,

in view of the fact that he is now in receipt of a salary

of $3,000 with Exchange Compensation and an allowance as

Normal Master of $600 without compensation per annum, he

should be allowed to commence upon the maximum salary of

$3,600 per annum.

6.

I have further to recommend that

in the event of Mr. Ralphs's promotion Mr. A. H. Crook,

the most senior of the Junior Assistant Masters, should be

given the vacant post of Senior Assistant Master, and that

the fifth Junior Assistant Mastership should be abolished.
