increments of £15. This salary is in accordance with the scale for junior Officers which with Your Lordship's sanction has already been introduced into various Depart- ments.
6. If this step meets with Your Lordship's approval I would further recommend that in view of the unsatisfactory reports regarding his work as Land Bailiff Mr. Mackie who in that capacity drew a salary of $1,500 per annum with Exchange Compensation should be directed to take the new post upon the maximum salary of £225 per annum, forfeiting any privileges that he may claim in connection with his dollar salary, and that he should at the same time be given clearly to understand that if he proves unsatisfactory in his new appointment his services will be dispensed with.
