In continuation of my Despatch
No. 46 of the 16th. ultimo and with reference to previous
correspondence on the subject of the application of the
Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation for permission
to increase their capital, I have the honour to transmit
in duplicate a copy of a Bill which the Corporation desire
to have introduced in the Legislative Council at its forth-
-coming session, and to request that I may be informed by
telegraph whether there is any objection on the part of
His Majesty's Government to this Bill becoming law.

In the event of the Bill being
approved it will, I presume, be unnecessary to retain the
suspending clause, which has been added in accordance with
