Referring to my Despatch No. 116 of the 10th May, 1906, I have the honour to transmit ten copies of the Report of the Harbour Master for the year 1906.
2. The total tonnage entering and clearing during the year amounted to 32,747,268 tons compared with 34,185,091 tons in 1905, a decrease of 1,437,823 tons, which may be attributed to the temporary dislocation of local River Steamer, Launch and Junk Trade in consequence of the typhoon of the 18th September.
3. In Ocean-going trade there is, compared with the previous year, an increase of 442 foreign vessels of 1,272,710 tons and a decrease of 298 British vessels of 482,853 tons, giving a nett increase of 789,857 tons. This large falling off in British trade, and a similar falling off of 135 vessels of 186,093 tons under
