q6s of my Despatches Nos. 238 and 262 dated the 5th. and 22nd.
Enclosure 2.
October, 1906, respectively on the subject of the typhoon
which passed over this Colony on the 18th. September last,
I have the honour to transmit 6 copies of the Report, dated
October 23rd., 1906, of a Committee appointed to enquire
whether earlier warning of this typhoon could have been
given to shipping. The report is followed by the evidence
of Dr. W. Doberck, Ph.D., Director of the Hongkong Observa-
-tory and of others who were in or near this Port at the
time of the disaster and also by various documents put in
by the witnesses examined by the Committee including a
statement by the Reverend Aloys Froc, S.J., Director of
the Sikawei Observatory. I also enclose 6 copies of a
Report on the same typhoon by the Reverend José Algué,
S.J., Director of the Weather Bureau, Manila Observatory.
