One thing when he was presenting his Wages Account. She appears for the Evidence of Check that Chan Boo attended at the Shipping Office for the purpose of being paid; and testified that Sai Yan demanded from him (not from Dr Guterres) about $20; that Chan Boo denied the demand; that Chan Boo took the Account and left the office without presenting it for payment; that Chan Boo subsequently returned to the office with the Account, when Dr Guterres was there with Sai Yan before the Ledger clerk came to be paid.

On the last point there was conflict in the evidence, for Dr Guterres stated, that Chan Boo attended as he was sent for; that he asked him whether he came to console the heirs of the crew, or to claim his wages, to which he replied that he must prove his identity by coming with Sai Yan to speak to him.

Chan Boo said that Dr Guterres said nothing to him about the deduction of $20.
