Having heard that certain charges are being brought against you, I am writing this hoping to help disproving what I have fraid & signed.
I have spoken to the fmaster, carpenter, the latter has been on the ship eight years. They all say that there has been no such thing happening on the ship, and they speak very highly of you.
I questioned the steward, bosun, and they all say that there have been small deductions in change forced upon them, but they have paid off without difficulty.
I beg to clear your name from these disgraceful statements.
Yours sincerely,
John B. Brunn
