In reply to your letter of the 25th ultimo,

I am directed to inform you that you have failed to exculpate

yourself to the satisfaction of the Governor from the charges

preferred against you in Mr. Sercombe Smith's letter of the 19th

ultimo and to apprise you that the question of your suspension

will be brought before the Executive Council on the 25th instant

at 2.30 p.m. in the Council Chamber when you will be required to

attend before the Council and defend yourself orally.

You may call any witnesses you may desire

to give testimony in your behalf.

I am further to inform you that the additional charges of which a copy is enclosed will be enquired into and

I am to request that you will furnish before the 25th instant

with a statement of the grounds, if any, on which you rely to

exculpate yourself from these further charges.
