The Colonial Secretary intimated that the third of the charges to be enquired into would not be proceeded with.
His Excellency asked that the answer which the defendant wrote to this charge be read.
The answer was read.
His Excellency to the Defendant:- Will you explain that answer?
Defendant:-
I did ask the man the question when he was going to supply me with a No. 1 Chinese Dinner.
His Excellency:- Do you consider it a proper thing to ask such a man to entertain you?
Defendant's answer was not intelligible.
