Answer:-
The only occasion that I can remember that this Chan Tsün visited my house was between Christmas and the New Year of 1905 when he asked me if I would accept a present for Christmas through my cook who is presently in my employment and has been since I occupied the house known at that time as "Stonelybrook" presently occupied by Rev. Mr. France. I told him no. He left my house and returned again saying that it was the Chinese custom to make presents to all their European friends at the Christmas season.
My cook acted as Interpreter and through him the whole of my conversation was carried on. When he returned I again refused.
