Another thing, when this account was presented, it was not the same man.

It struck me that this was not the real man, but a substitute.

A. It was a short man over 30 years.

Mr. Guterres 50 or 60. The whole crew of the Cranley was paid off on the 10th November. I read the account of wages out to them. I tell them that so much wages is due to them after deductions, and ask is it right or wrong. Then they say it is right. They are paid in departments, boatswains, firemen and so on. This man did not turn up till half-past one o'clock when I was leaving. I said to him, Why do you come so late? Why didn't you come with the others? I do not know whether you are the right man or not; bring some person with you or a letter that you are the captain's boy.

Mr. Thomson You told him to come back with Sai Yau?
