Recently, however, I learn from certain sources, that my appointment may not be continued on the expiry of my agreement and that the main reason for this course, is that Hongkong is a small Colony and unable to bear the expense of so much research, and maintain an up-to-date Bacteriological Institute. As you may imagine, this is a most serious anxiety for me to consider. I am a married man with a family, and at my age—32—with five years’ special experience and good health, I fear for my position.
Since my arrival here, my main object has been to do the best for Tropical Pathology and Bacteriology. I have, therefore, with this in front of me, built an excellent post-mortem and pathological department.
