car Sir Patrick,
Bacteriologie Institute,
Hong Kong,
25th June, 1906.
I take the liberty of writing to you on the assumption that you have not forgotten me, and that you may be able to assist me in what I am about to put before you. You will remember my appointment as bacteriologist to this Colony nearly 5 years ago, and how anxious I was at the time to secure it. Through great kindness, I obtained the appointment and have, ever since, endeavoured to justify its creation.
My agreement for five years terminates in March of February next. It was, naturally, under the supposition that the appointment would become a permanent one, that I came here to do my best work, and accepted the post.
