The University of Edinburgh does not grant a Diploma in Public Health. It grants the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Public Health, the necessary courses of study for which are beyond the requirements of the General Medical Council for Diplomas in Public Health.

Eight months work in a Public Health Laboratory is required for the Degree, five months of which must be in the Public Health Laboratory of the University of Edinburgh, while the remaining three months may be in a Public Health Laboratory recognised for this purpose by the University Court.

The Faculty of Science is prepared to recommend that the Government Bacteriological Institute at Hong Kong, and the course of instruction there by Dr William Cameron, Government Bacteriologist, be recognised for this purpose by the University Court.
