Foreign Office to Board of Trade.
Foreign Office, December 6, 1906. WITH reference to the letter from this Department of the 9th March last, inclosing a copy of a despatch No. 31 of the 22nd February from His Majesty's Ambassador at Washington regarding the draft Regulations for the registration of trade marks in China, and your reply of the 9th July, I am directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to transmit to you herewith, to be laid before the Board of Trade, a copy of a further despatch which has been received from Sir H. M. Durand,* reporting that the United States' Government are willing to withdraw their objections to Article 25 on the understanding that Article 7 is amended in the manner suggested by the German Ambassador at Washington.
The correspondence on the subject between the United States' Government and the German Ambassador is inclosed in Sir M. Durand's despatch.
I am to inquire whether, in the opinion of the Board of Trade, His Majesty's Minister at Peking may be instructed to agree to the suggested amendment to Article 7.
