I share your view that no support can be given to claim for consequential loss. The captain's and engineer's claims are clearly exaggerated; they should include medical expenses, duly substantiated personal losses, and moderate sums only as compensation. The claims lodged by the owners for amount claimed by Chinese passengers and for direct losses do not appear to be unreasonable.
Claims on these lines may be presented by His Majesty's Consul-General, and he should use his discretion as to those of the crew, compradore and Indian watchmen.
