To Un Choi and other Uncles.
Dear Uncles:-
Sat Mo is known to be a port where one can earn money and so many people wish to go to this foreign place with a view to obtain money to support their families.
With that attention and taking advantage of the opportunity of workers being wanted here at $15.00 a month I came on the understanding that after working for three years I would be at liberty to do whatever business I like. But who would have thought that business in the present day is so difficult. I am entrapped by the cunning plots of the foreigners who have sold me as a "Chu Tsai". I am undergoing unbearable hardship, but repentance is too late. The monthly wages are only ten marks equal to $2.50.
I do not mind receiving this low wage but the tortures are hard to suffer.
