I have the honour, in continuation of my despatch No.38 of the 1st instant, to forward copy and translation of a despatch dated 2nd August received from H.E. the Viceroy informing me what has been done in the case of the piracy of the British SS. "Sainam", and the measures that he has taken and is taking for the suppression of piracy in the Two Kuang. In justice to him I must state my belief that he took up the 'Sainam' case with energy and promptitude and that every possible step has been so far taken to bring the guilty to justice.

Besides 6 men said to have been actively implicated in the "Sainam" case, a razzia has been made on a number of pirate resorts with the result of the arrest of some 70 others concerned in other robberies and piracies. It is highly probable
