I am directed to inform you that His Excellency the Governor proposes to suspend you from the exercise of your office of Sanitary Inspector on the following grounds, viz:-
(a). That on or about the dates mentioned in the list enclosed herewith you received the various sums of money mentioned therein from the said firm or Shop of 209, Des Voeux Road Central. A copy of the entries in the account books of the said firm is enclosed.
(b). That on or about the 25th of November, 1902, you obtained the sum of $10 from one Mok Joy-chow, a partner in the Chan Kwong firm or Shop, 184, Queen's Road Central. Copies of an entry in the account books of the said Chan Kwong firm and of a translation of that entry are enclosed.
I am directed to instruct you to furnish in writing a statement of the grounds on which you rely to exculpate yourself from the above charges and to let such statement be in my hands not later than noon on Thursday, the 20th of December.
