On the 5th May, Sir, I was in charge of No 10 District, and Inspector Kelly was in charge of No 9.
With regard to receiving for Nos 9 and 10 Districts the sum of $55, which he is supposed to have handed to ... to hand to Inspector Conolly, I know nothing about these entries any more than anybody else. But what is his idea if he wanted to give Inspector Conolly sums of money, for paying it to me. If he wanted, as he says, to hand money to Inspector Conolly, why does he hand it to me. What is his idea ?

But the question is: Why, if you wanted to give the money to Conolly, did you put it into Ward's house ? My ... said "Give it to him, and he will know about it". It was not I who had given it at the first.
Did he hand the money to me, Sir ? I only put it on the table. I say it now in the presence of Mr Ward.
