Atkinson:-

Q. What position does he hold in the firm ?

A. I attend to the outside business of the firm. I go about and look after what is going on in the streets.

Q. Is he a paid servant ?

A. I do get money - wages.

Q. Not a partner ?

A. I have got a small share.

Q. He is a partner ?

A. Yes, that is so.

Mr Hewett:-

Q. Is this the scavenging contractor ?

A. Yes.

Dr Atkinson:-

Q. I think I am right in saying that the scavenging contractor's business is in the name of Leung In, not the Fuk On. He is a partner of the Fuk On firm.

A. I want the Council to know that his position is a small partner in the firm, but he is the man in whose name the contract is.

The Chairman:-

Q. The scavenging contract is in my name.

A. I mean he himself.

Q. Yes, I have got the account books here. I don't make entries in the books.

Mr Hewett:-

Q. Shang?

A. I think it would be better to make the point clear. This man is a small partner in the firm. The contract is in his name, and therefore the Government recognises him as the contractor. He has an accountant to keep the books. He does not know enough to keep the books, and so on.

The Chairman:-

Q. You employ an accountant, do you, called ...?

A. YOB.

The Chairman:-

Q. Who handed you those two sums of $55, which you say you took to Mr Ward's house ?

A. I don't remember.

Q. The accountant,

A. ...

Q. What is his name ?
