Mr. Dyer Ball, Chief Interpreter in the Supreme Court, interpreted the evidence of the Chinese witnesses and the proceedings were reported by a shorthand writer. A copy of those proceedings is enclosed and includes Ward's reply of the 16th of November to the Colonial Secretary's letter of the 14th of November. Copies of the Colonial Secretary's letter of the 20th of November summoning Ward to appear before the Executive Council and of the Colonial Secretary's letter of the 26th of November suspending Ward until Your Lordship's decision had been received are also enclosed.
