RECEIVED

Rec'd 1 DEC 06

Government House,

Hongkong, 2nd November, 1906.

My Lord,

CA 32534

Referring to Your Lordship's Despatch No. 173 dated the 7th September, 1906, on the subject of the proposed provision of a Third Court in the new Law Courts, I have the honour to forward copies of minutes dated October 23rd and November 1st, covering 5 alternative plans lettered B, C, D, E, and F which avoid the objection that has been raised to the Consulting Architects' plan of unduly curtailing the space available for the Crown Solicitor's Office.

2. Of the various alternatives I prefer, as far as the plan is concerned, that marked 'F' which provides a third court of the same size as the second and a good room for the library without interfering with the accommodation originally provided for the Law Officers or diminishing the light to the principal court. There may be some difficulty as regards the elevation if plan 'F' is adopted.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

THE EARL OF ELGIN, K.G.,
