1899, and were to be in force from the 18th of April, 1899, to the 17th of April, 1900. By Government Notification No. 539 published at page 1573 of the Gazette for 1900, the same rates were continued for the period from the 18th of April, 1900, to the 17th of April, 1901. They were further continued till the 17th of April, 1902, by Government Notification No. 371 published at page 1184 of the Gazette for 1901.
3. The rates quoted in the Petition should have been $3.80 and $1.82 instead of $3.80 and $1.52 for first and third class agricultural land per acre.
4. In 1902 and 1903 changes were made in the rates of Crown Rent levied in New Kowloon, which was comprised in Survey Districts Nos. I, II, III, IV, V, IX and Demarcation District No. 401, and these new rates were from time to time made applicable to the various Survey Districts mentioned but not to Demarcation District 401, which had escaped observation. The Government Notifications which applied the new rates were Nos. 550 of 1902, 603 of 1902, and 33 of 1903, and were the same in form and detail except that they referred respectively to Survey Districts I, II; Survey Districts III, IV; Survey Districts V, IX. The rates imposed by these notifications remained in force until the 17th April, 1904.
