It has not yet been ascertained how many of the sunk launches have been or can be raised.
The number of launches permanently or temporarily disabled (80) was nearly one-third of the number (256) which according to the latest available return are employed in Hongkong.

of European constructed Lighters belonging to European Firms it has now been reported that 15 were sunk, 11 stranded, and 6 more or less damaged otherwise, making a total of 32 such vessels on the list of casualties. Of those which were sunk 4 have been and 8 are being raised and 3 have not been located. The sunk and damaged Lighters were temporarily replaced by others for which the Firms concerned telegraphed to the Treaty Ports and Japan.
