Owing to death of Harbour Master Secretary of State has approved of my applying to you for loan of Naval officer with previous experience of mercantile marine to act as Harbour Master at monthly payment of £65 during absence on leave of Assistant Harbour Master on leave and pending the appointment of new Harbour Master. Names & particulars of Jamdar and Beckwith, of Braden have been suggested to me: but leave it to you to select most suitable officer you can spare to fill post temporarily knowing you will give assistance in difficulty due to death of Harbour Master. Treat as confidential. Loan will not exceed 3 months but officer holding it may be offered permanent appointment if satisfactory.
