Governor Sir H. Nathan to the Earl of Elgin.

In reply to your telegram of yesterday's date illness due to chill and overwork lasted for 8 days on last of which unconscious and suffered no pain.

Naval funeral very largely attended. Wife and family return by P. & O. Steamer "Manila" leaving 24th October.
