was washed away. The rubble slope of the sea-wall by Macdonnell Road not far from this was also washed away for a length of 36 yards. A stone pier at Green Island and the pitched slope in front of the Gunpowder Depot there were damaged and a pier at Cheung Chow Island was demolished. The cost of repairs to Government Piers and Sea-walls including the reinstating of the Police Basin Swing Bridge is estimated at $13,800 or say $14,000.

In Victoria the side walls and floor of the Albany Nullah were broken up in places and some damage was done to the nullah at the top of Ship Street. In both Victoria and Kowloon quantities of sand, boulders, tree-branches etc., were swept into the nullah courses and sewers and have to be cleared out. A number of storm-water and sewer outlets into the harbour, consisting of cast-iron or stoneware pipes and cement concrete were swept away or badly broken. The approximate estimate for repairing and clearing drains is as follows:-
