My wife is going to Japan in August, and shoull my re- quest for leave not meet with Your excellency's sanction I propose to join her luring the Court vacations, if Your excellency will be gool enough to sanction my absence from the Colony catween 20th. September and 17th. October. However, under the special circumstances alluded to above, I trust that Your excellency will have no objection

with the to grant me 3 weeks vacation leave, in order that 1 may, Court vacation, be absent for two months and a half: the precise iates of the leave to be settled when i have ascertained the sail-

ings of the steaners.
