Hongkong, 14th. August,1906.

My Lord,

23955

With reference to Your Lordship's despatch

No.133 dated the 13th. July, 1906, transmitting a letter

from the Foreign Office with regard to a proposed revision

of the China and Corea Order in Council, I have the honour

to recommend that in place of repealing Article 84 it

should be amended to read as in annexed draft.

2.

Such an amendment would meet the suggestion

contained in the 3rd. paragraph of the despatch under reply

that in cases where it is impossible to arrange for persons

deported to be shipped direct from the Treaty Ports to

their homes the Hongkong Government should assist the

Consular authorities by receiving such persons and arrang-

ing for their repatriation.

3.

The amended Article should be supplemented

by instructions to the Consular authorities that due notice

of the deportation of any person to Hongkong is to be given
