I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of Your Lordship's despatch No.116 dated the 15th. June,

1905, on the subject of the disposal of the War Department

of the sites of Murray Battery and Stanley Cantonment in

the 3rd. paragraph of which despatch I am asked what answer

should be returned to the questions raised in the last

paragraph of the War Office letter of June 7th.

The rates of Premium and Crown Rent which it

is proposed to charge to the Tramway Company for the

various lands required for their undertaking were set forth

in a minute by the Director of Public Works dated the 21st.

August, 1903, which formed an enclosure to Sir Henry

Blake's despatch No.510 dated the 5th. November of that

44092099

year.

In this minute it was proposed for the Lower Termi-

nus site, which was not then recognized to be, at any rate

partly, within War Department Boundaries, to charge at the

rates
