Section of this Chamber to forward to you the enclosed
copy of a letter addressed to the Postmaster General on
the 10th, November together with a copy of his reply re- ceived dated 24th. November, and I am to express the hope
that your Chamber will support the representations made by this Chamber as to the necessity for the establ@ihment of
a separate British Post Office at Tientsin and will make
representations to the Colonial Secretary at Hongkong in
support of that object.

I am instructed by the Council of this Chamber
to respectfully call your attention to the alleged inade-
quacy of the present postal arrangements at Tientsin, so
far as British interests are concerned.
It is felt to be an anomaly that whereas there is
& Post Office for Germany, France, China and Japan there is
no British Branch Post Office nearer than Chefoo, the re-
