Dear Sir Matthew Nathan,

I beg to apologise for not having sent you
before copies of the Telegrams I have receivel from our Bombay
Branch in reply to my enquiries re. the Mints and British Dollars.
I now enclose them and you will see that
the Comptroller General, Calcutta, and Mint Master Bombay, do not
hold out any hopes of being able to coin for us this year, which is
contrary to the views expressed by the India Office.
With the above telegrams before us we at
once resold in London Bar Silver bought with the intention of coin-
ing into British Dollars in Bombay and turned our attention to
Mexican Dollars, we have been able to buy some of these but it is
quite uncertain that they will continue in supply.
Yours faithfully,
Si. H.Hunter.
Sir Matthew Nathan, K.C.M.G.
Hong Kong.
