The decision as regards the construction of the
Canton-Anoy mailway.
The Canton-Aroy Railway greatly concerns the two Provinces
of Foxien and Kwongtung. Some tire ago Chan Fo Shan, the Imperial
bailway Commissioner for Fokien case to Canton to make arrangements
for the construction of this raliway. A discussion has been held in
the Charter of Commerce as we have reportel. As have learned that
his excellency Chan proposes to follow the precedent adopted in the
Canton-Hanson wailway which is to be built by merchants and that the
mailway is to be in two sections, to oe built respectively by the
merchants of the Iwo Frovinces; he also proposes that the construc-
tion of the hailway should be undertaken by one company who shouli |
commence work in the two sections at the same time; that the amount
required to construct the section in Hokien shoull be raised oy
shares in Kwongtung; that any profit gained should be livided equally
by the Company; and that Chan and Cheung Pat-sz should oe hell
responsible for inviting suoscriptions for shares in the tac pro-
vinces.
