Public Works Department,

Songkong, 19th. June, 1906.

sir.

Adverting to 0.8.0.6148/1908, I beg to inform you that the necessary re-arrangement of Kowloon inland Lots Nos.755 and 757 was agreed to by Mr. Belilios who, however, desired to acouire the vacant areas of land adjacent and to the north of these lots, coloured yel- low on the attached plan. He pointed out that, by the re-arrangement he was being deprived of a considerable extent of frontage, which was of value, and he represented that he was entitled to some considera- tion on this account.

In December 1904, Mr. Jones wrote to Mr. Belilios' Agents (Messrs. Linstead and Davis) stating that he was prepared to recon- mend that, subject to payment of prarium at the rate of 38 cents per square foot, the areas in question be merged in the adjoining lots and be subject to Crown rent at the same rate, namely $100 per acre.

Some correspondence ensued, Mr. Belilios offering 50 cents

per square foot, which was refused, and the death of that gentleman put a stop to further negotiations.

During the recent visit of Mr. R. 5. Belilios to the Colony, he looked into the matter and I have now received a letter from Messrs. Linstead & Davis agresing on his behalf to pay 63 cents per square foot. It is stipulated that a 50 foot road should be laid out on the east side of Kowloon Inland Lot 757 and, as this is a reasonable request, I recommend that it be granted,

I submit that the proposal be recommended to the Secretary

of State on the following terms:-

(i).

Premium at the rate of 63 cents per square foot to be paid, (within 7 days of the date of a letter notifying the approval of the Secretary of State), for the two areas coloured yellow, amounting to about 5,931 square feet.

(ii).

Crown rent, at the rate of $100 per acre, to be paid for
